Today is a beautiful day in America :)

DOMA – the Defense of Marriage Act – was ruled unconstitutional by the Supreme Court, meaning that gay marriages are now recognized by the federal government. This also means (via a lot of technical, political jargon I’m not completely understanding) that Prop 8 will be overturned as well, so gay marriage will be legal again in California.

I’ve written, erased, re-written and erased again what I thought I was going to write in this post. I didn’t want to get too political, seeing as how it’s been all over the news all day and I don’t exactly have anything new to say, just my opinion (which ends up being angry rants over how this could have possibly even been passed in the first place).

So I’ll just say that I’m so proud to be from a country that is now a much more equal and loving place ♥

Being in a country right now that is nowhere near close to coming to a government ruling like this – it really makes me appreciate the homeland a lot more.

Blogs that expressed the joy of this day far better than I ever could:

Such wonderful news but so frustrating that there’s still so many more states to go that need to get this legalised asap. Let’s hope it’ll happen really soon,
